Hi! My name is Misty Munn and I live in Sumrall, Mississippi with my wonderful hubby of 15 years and our four amazing kiddos :) My family is THE reason that I scrap. Each and every day brings many new memories to document and I live to tell the stories of our daily life…for years to come! Scrapbooking allows me to do just that, but in a more creative and colorful way ;) It is an absolute honor to be a part of the Simply Scrappin’ Creative Team, not to mention….a dream come true!

“Times Like These”: I used the transparency sheet, but simply cut the single circle with the title printed on it and I knicked the edges of my paper with my craft knife…then used my Tim Holtz distress tool to rough up the edges and finished it off with my Tim Holtz ink pad in Black Soot.

“Victory”: I secured the “Film Strip” transparency over my cropped photos by using my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher and finished the layout with the same distressing techinique listed above on the edges. I also dabbed the chipboard letters on the ink pad to add the black color to them.

“Gameboy”: I used the same edging technique on this layout…including the star that I cut with my Cricut. and I simply cut a small piece of the “Gears” diecut sheet to add a little bit of dimension to it all.

“Jack” Banner: I cut the pennants with my Cricut…and distressed each one with my TH distress tool. I cut the “Gear” diecut sheet to fit on one pennant for texture. The stars and letters (J-A-C-K) were also cut with my Cricut and distressed with my Black Soot inkpad.

Designer Spotlight: Jana Barbay

Please welcome Jana Barbay as our spotlight designer this week.

My name is Jana Barbay and I live in Greenwell Springs, Louisiana. I have been married to my best friend for 27 years. We stay very busy with our children who range in age from 23 years to 3. I work as a Federal Officer and am fortunate that I am able to work from home. My family is the most important thing to me. When I am not carpooling, cooking, attending football games, or dance lessons, I am scrapbooking my children’s lives.

Layout: Happy

I have fallen in love with Sassafras products! Each paper has a decorative border which always makes a precious addition to your layout. Sassafras products are colorful and funky. I love that they offer coordinating cardstock stickers to make your layouts come to life. I added buttons to my flowers and popped them up to add some dimension. I love to journal on my layouts and tell my children’s stories. I often cut my journal into stripes and adhere them in a variety of ways. I find it’s a great way to use up empty space.

Layout: Helping Hands

I really wanted the focus of this layout to be my daughter’s sweet little hands. My favorite things to scrapbook are my children’s everyday lives. Once again, I used October Afternoon and Jillibean products. They make every layout special. I love the look of banners and made this one with my circle punch. I folded each circle in half over my thread and sealed them with glue dots. I love the look and feel it gives this layout.

Layout: My Bikini Babe

When I look at this layout..I see summer. I used soft prints, butterflies, and flowers to achieve the effect I was looking for. I used a circle punch to make my flowers and sun and embellished them with buttons. I also used a punch to make my butterflies and added a bit of bling to complete the look. I used October Afternoon paper and my title is made with Thickers and Jillibean Corrugated Green Alphas.

Designer Spotlight: Jules Eickmeier

This week’s designer is Jules Eickmeier!

jules.jpg
I am Jules Eickmeier, a retired English teacher originally from St. Louis, Mo. but now living in a small fishing village on the Florida Gulf Coast.  I have been scrapbooking and doing altered art for over twelve years and have taught paper arts classes both here in Florida and nationally.  My husband and I live near our adult children (Rob, 38, Kristen, 35 and her husband Chris) and will become grandparents to twin boys June of 2010.  I see a lot of blue layouts in my future!

I am delighted to have been selected to be on this design team with these talented ladies on Elizabeth’s design team.

I try to design my layouts to focus on the photo and to capture the moment with color and patterns as I did in the Paradise and Beach Babes layouts.  I like to use hidden journaling or to journal around elements on the layout.  Ribbons and lace are my downfall and only a very few of my designs do not have one or both.

You can keep up with Jules at www.postingfromparadise.blogspot.com  and http://jules-atoasttoalteredart.blogspot.com.
